🔥 Application Instructions

Before you begin: Faux leather can be sensitive to heat. Always test on a small, inconspicuous area when possible, and follow the patch manufacturer’s recommended temperature and pressing time. Different fabrics and materials require different settings.

Option 1: Household Iron

  1. Prepare the surface: Make sure your fabric or material is clean, completely dry, and free of wrinkles.

  2. Position the patch: Place the patch adhesive-side down in your desired location.

  3. Protect the patch: Cover it with a thin cotton pressing cloth or parchment paper suitable for heat application. Do not place the iron directly on the faux leather.

  4. Set your iron: Turn off steam and use a low-to-medium heat setting appropriate for the patch and the material you’re applying it to.

  5. Apply pressure: Press firmly and evenly for approximately 10–15 seconds to start. Do not slide the iron back and forth.

  6. Check the bond: Allow the patch to cool slightly, then gently check the edges. If needed, repeat in short intervals, following the manufacturer’s temperature and time recommendations.

  7. Let it cool: Allow the patch to cool completely before handling or wearing the item.

Option 2: Heat Press

  1. Prepare the material: Ensure the surface is clean, dry, and flat. Pre-press fabric briefly if appropriate to remove moisture and wrinkles.

  2. Position the patch: Place the patch adhesive-side down where you want it.

  3. Protect the patch: Cover it with a suitable protective sheet, such as a Teflon sheet or parchment paper rated for heat pressing.

  4. Set the temperature: Start with the patch manufacturer’s recommended settings. If no settings are provided, contact the patch supplier before pressing, since excessive heat can damage faux leather.

  5. Press the patch: Apply firm, even pressure for the recommended time. Avoid excessive pressure that could flatten or distort the patch.

  6. Check adhesion: Allow it to cool as directed, then gently check the edges. Repress only if needed and if the manufacturer’s instructions permit it.

  7. Allow a full cool-down: Let the patch cool completely before using the finished item.

Important Tips

  • Always test first: Heat can damage certain fabrics, coatings, plastics, and faux leather.

  • Avoid direct heat: Never place a hot iron or press plate directly against the faux leather surface.

  • Check your material: Some items, especially waterproof jackets, coated fabrics, synthetic materials, and padded headrests, may not tolerate heat.

  • For hats and curved surfaces: Use a suitable curved hat press or carefully supported pressing surface for even contact.

  • For best durability: Follow the patch adhesive manufacturer’s care instructions, including washing and drying recommendations.

Disclaimer: Application results vary depending on the material, adhesive, and equipment used. Heat application is not suitable for every surface, and a heat-applied patch may require additional stitching or another compatible attachment method for long-term durability.
